Abstract:
Assembled by the rod system, the truss structures are easy to install and possess good expansibility, thus they have been widely used in various engineering practices. As significant structures, the analyses of internal forces are typically included in key courses such as theoretical mechanics, mechanics of materials, and structural mechanics. However, existing teaching contents primarily focus on “ideal truss”, “calculation of internal forces”, etc., which can lead to students losing interest and result in inadequate teaching performance. Based on research and summaries, the present authors have. collected numerous interesting scientific topics related to trusses, including name, design strategy, zero-force bar, and instability of truss structures. This knowledge not only expands bookish knowledge but also holds significant value for science popularization. Proper introduction and arrangement of these knowledge points will aid students and young teachers to in gaining a deeper understanding of truss structures.
